The Boys & Girls Club of Collier County, Florida, Inc., is a youth development organization that provides daily after school and summer enrichment programs for the youth of this community ages six to eighteen.
Established in September 1991, as a Girls Club (Girl Incorporated), later in 1997, the organization joined Boys & Girls Club of America, the nation’s leading youth service organization.
Since our founding, the Boys & Girls Club of Collier County (BGCCC) has grown from a call to action by concerned citizens, initially serving 40 members, to an award-winning program serving more than 2,000 disadvantaged young people county wide each day. At the heart of the mission is the goal of ensuring that all of our county’s young people have access to the resources they will need to succeed in life.
The organization began its programming in 1991 in two rented classrooms in a local community center. In 1997, the Boys & Girls Club of Collier County initiated a capital campaign to raise funding to purchase land and build a campus that would be the permanent home for the facility.
On August 14, 2006, the newly constructed Arlene & Jerry F. Nichols Campus on Davis Boulevard opened. The 10 acre campus consists of a youth development center, recreational center, Olympic Size swimming pool and aquatic fitness center.
The Recreational Center consists of a high school regulation size basketball court, offices, storage, weight room and a 6,000 sq. ft. educational pavilion.
The Youth Development Center is 36,000 sq. ft on the first floor with a boys wing and a girls wing. Each wing consists of a science lab, art lab, technology center, learning center, multi-purpose classrooms, café room and games rooms. The facility also has a teen center on the first floor.
The second floor consists of 10,000 sq. ft. of unfinished space which will be the home of the Technical Training Center. (For more information see the Capital Project Page.)
In addition to the existing facilities, the campus also has an additional 5 acres of land which will be the future home of “Baker Field”, a little league size baseball field and facilities to be constructed in partnership with the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation.
Currently, serving approximately 700 to 800 daily, once our campus is fully developed it will be able to serve 1,000 youth daily.
In addition to the Davis Boulevard Campus, the Boys & Girls Club of Collier County also operates three fully staffed Boys & Girls Club programs at offsite locations at Parkside Elementary, Manatee Elementary and Manatee Middle School. These locations each serve up to 150 youth at their individual sites. With full time professional Boys & Girls Club Site Directors at each location, BGCCC staff is able to help assimilate club programming both during the school and out-of-school hours.
With future plans to build a Boys & Girls Club campus in Immokalee, BGCCC now works in partnership with Collier County Public Schools, Southwest Florida Workforce, Community Foundation of Collier County and the Naples Children & Education Foundation and provides technical assistance and programming to six schools in the Immokalee Area.
BGCCC is dedicated to ensuring that our community’s young people, who are most in need of our help, have greater access to quality programs and services that provide the hope, training and opportunities to ensure that they may become productive adults. As an organization, we will continue to seek ways and means of reaching out to serve the thousands of young people who need us most.
